A design competition for decarbonization, equity and resilience in california

Architecture at Zero is a global zero net energy design competition that engages both students and professionals in the fields of architecture, design, engineering, and planning in the pursuit of energy efficient, sustainable design.

The 2021-22 Architecture at Zero competition focused on decarbonization, resilience and equity. The challenge is to design affordable housing for farmworker families in California’s Central Valley. Key aspects of this project include responding to the challenges of equity and resilience through the design solution.

Architecture at Zero 2021 was funded by the California investor-owned utilities, in partnership with AIA California. Past competitions have been funded by Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), and supported by various partner organizations, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the University of California public university system, and several Bay Area non-profits.

Resource Refocus is proud to continue our ten year long collaboration providing competition coordination and technical review.
