Happy New Year!
We’re Growing!
In 2023, the Resource Refocus team welcomed Sheila Naby who joined the team as an Associate Technical Consultant. Sheila is currently working with our team on evaluating residential code compliance in Montana and Idaho on behalf of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance by using site data in Monte Carlo Analysis to estimate energy consumption and identify potential savings with improved compliance.
Team MINI RETREAT
The team met in person during the first week of November for two days of work planning, collaboration, and some fun! Natalie presented the Monte Carlo Analysis we are doing to evaluate code compliance in Montana and Idaho. Rhys discussed the evolution of Energy Codes in New York State and where our recent work fits within this context.
The following day the team went hiking in the redwoods at Joaquin Miller State Park, followed by dinner with families and significant others.

NBI Schools BETR Study
Resource Refocus contributed to the recently published the Building Electrification Technology Roadmap (BETR) for Schools report. The effort was led by the New Buildings Institute for Southern California Edison. The report equips K-12 leaders with the ultimate roadmap and decision-making tools to electrify their school buildings. Read the report to uncover strategies and relative cost analysis exclusively designed for K-12 schools to reduce carbon emissions from water heating, HVAC systems, charging infrastructure, and other technologies that energize classrooms and educational facilities.
The Helping Schools be BETR with the Building Electrification Technology Roadmap webinar recording is now available on-demand. Watch the webinar to discover best practices, costs, and typical scenarios for electrification in K-12 schools.
For further information on costs, here is a link to a Tableau dashboard to help estimate potential incremental costs of electrification solutions for schools.
